Samsung Galaxy A12 Review
The Samsung Galaxy A12 was announced in late November 2020 and was released in South Africa in January 2021.
Samsung Galaxy A12 Price in South Africa
The initial Samsung Galaxy A12 price in South Africa was a reasonable R3,500. As you can see above, the price of the Samsung A12 has gone down since then.
Although a budget smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A12 is not the most affordable Samsung phone on the market - for that you'd have to look at the Samsung Galaxy A3 Core.
What's in the box
The phone is housed in simple, minimalistic packaging. Inside you'll find a charging adaptor, a USB-C charging cable and the Samsung Galaxy A12 device. No earphones in sight.
This phone spots an aesthetically pleasing unibody design that feels amazing in the hand. The sides of the phone have smooth curves while the back has a textured lines that help make the phone not slippery.
On the top left of the back panel, you'll find the 4 rear cameras and the camera flash placed right below the rear quad cameras.
Turn the phone around and you'll find Samsung's IPS display. 6.5 inches of screen real estate for the Samsung A12, with a 82% screen-to-body ratio. And as is common today, you'll find the front camera notch right at the top, merged with the top part of the display.
The right side of the phone is where you'll find all the buttons. Embedded on the power button, is a fingerprint sensor - an option for unlocking the phone. The volume buttons sit just above the fingerprint reader. On the left hand side of the A12, is the SIM card slot which also houses a microSD card slot.
In term of charging ports, the Galaxy A12 joins most of the modern smartphones and comes with a USB-C port for charging. As is the norm with low-end phones, you'll also find a headphone jack with this device.
A combination of streamlined design aesthetics with vibrant colours. The Samsung A12 is available in black, red and blue. And the Samsung A12 price is the roughly the same regardless of colour.
Overall, the Samsung A12 has a modern design, feels good in the hand, and takes after a lot of today's flagship phones.
With a 5,000 mAh battery, unless you're a phone addict, you can go for an entire day (or two) without having to charge this phone.
Considering the Samsung A12 price in South Africa, the camera on this device is pretty good for its price range. You'll be able to take stunning images along with ultra wide shots for situations that call for them. The front selfie camera, although not as good as the rear cameras, is pretty decent for an entry level device. You'll be able to record videos in pleasing full HD quality. The camera app interface is intuitive and easy to use. With zoom features, panorama and much more.
With a large 6.5 inch display, there's a lot more you can do on the Samsung A12. From playing games to watching YouTube videos. The screen resolution is slightly better than standard HD, the resolution is at 720 x 1600 because the screen is slightly taller than the standard HD specifications. As a result, screen content looks sharp, crisp and clear.
